We have all the answers to all your questions about
Cav-Form
Q. Is it important the board is scored to go around a corner?
A. If you cut the board part way through you can maintain a water proof joint. But could butt joint and tape or silicone seal the corner joint as an alternative.
Q. You have supplied extra spacers and barbed fasteners. Where do l use these?
A. The extra spacers and barbed fasteners are for fitting additional supports in the centre of the backing board where there are no cavity ties and at the edge of the boards at window and door reveals, valleys and eaves and at fire breaks. Fasten the spacers to the backing board with the barbed fasteners.
Q. Why is it important that the spacers are attached with the flange facing the backing board?
A. The spacer is designed so that any moisture that drops onto it runs down and drips off down the cavity and does not track to the inner leaf. The spacer needs to be fitted with its face towards the inner leaf for maximum effect.
Q. The spacer needs to be attached with the face firmly pressed against the inner skin. Why?
A. The Cav-Form Spacer helps ensure that any insulation fitted to the inner leaf is kept pressed against the wall and helps maintain a uniform cavity.
Q. Have you any evidence the system works?
A. The system has been used in many house building projects and we will be happy to provide you with details upon request. The system is also being tested for BBA Certification.
Q. Can someone show me/ demonstrate how to install?
A. The system is easy to install and the installation instructions are easy to follow. However we can make arrangements to come and train you if you so wish. Email team@cav-form.com to request training.
Q. What skill or expertise would l need to install the system?
A. You do not need any special skills or training to install the system. Just follow the installation instructions, work neatly and make sure you fit the Cav-Form spacers the correct way around on the cavity ties. Tape or seal the joints to prevent moisture ingress. Fill any voids between the masonry and the backing board with mortar.
Q. When cladding in stone, the backing board replaces the backing concrete block wall. Does this weaken the structure of my building?
A. No, the backing block is normally installed to protect and maintain the cavity. The Cav-Form system replaces the backing block and is supported by the cavity ties.
Q. Do l need to be on site to accept delivery?
A. Yes, the system is palletised and you will need to sign and accept delivery.
Q. How will my delivery be made?
A. Delivery is made by van or truck to your site delivery address.
Q. I have ordered too much, can l return it and if so how?
A. Contact us if you have ordered too much. The system is recyclable and we will take back un-damaged product for a small re-stocking fee and transport costs.
Q. If l need next day delivery when does my order need to be received by?
