Q. What skill or expertise do l need to install the system?
A. You do not need any special skills or training to install the system. Just follow the simple installation instructions, work neatly, and make sure you fit the Cav-Form™ spacers the correct way
around on the cavity ties. Tape and seal the joints to prevent moisture ingress. Fill any voids between the masonry and the backing board with mortar to create a solid bed.
Q. Is it important that the board is scored to go around a corner?
A. If you cut the board part way through you can maintain a water proof joint. But you can butt joint and tape to seal the corner joint as you prefer.
Q. You have supplied extra spacers and barbed fasteners. Where do l use these?
A. The extra spacers and barbed fasteners are for fitting additional supports in the centre of the backing board or where there are no cavity ties. Also at the edge of the boards, at window and door
reveals, valleys and eaves, and at fire breaks.
Q. The spacer needs to be attached with the face firmly pressed against the inner skin. Why?
A. The Cav-Form™ Spacer helps ensure that any insulation fitted to the inner leaf is kept pressed against the wall and helps maintain a uniform cavity.
Q. When cladding in stone, the backing board replaces the concrete backing block wall. Does this weaken the structure of my building?
A. The concrete wall that the board replaces does not affect the structure of the building as it is non-load bearing.
